RSB Youth Programs

Children and teens have a natural affinity for spirituality. If they are encouraged to develop spiritual awareness while they are young, they gain a trust in life and a sense of self that serves them all their lives.

Our Youth program offers a wonderful learning and growing experience for our kids. With diverse and creative lessons, the junior church gang always come away with a practical and age-appropriate lesson that helps them understand spiritual principles - and use them!

We are committed to providing a spiritual education for children and teens. Through the teaching of Science of Mind®, our youth learn spiritual values, principles and skills that enable them to live happy, creative and effective lives.

Junior Church

Have you ever wondered what your life would have been like if you had found Religious Science as a child? Children’s Church offers programming to fit the growth and development of children 4 to 12 years of age. Junior Church offers children ages 4–7 years a place to learn and experience a greater relationship with God; to recognize themselves as unique and valuable people making a difference in their world. The tweens program offers children 8–12 years a special place to complete that transition of being a child maturing into a teen.

All of our youth programs provide our children the opportunity to experience using the power of mind to create what they choose, and to share their joys and concerns with other children in a spiritually supportive environment. This is accomplished through teachers presenting Science of Mind® principles in lessons and experiences appropriate to each age group. The program includes discus­sion of spiritual ideas that relate to the child’s daily activities, stories, sharing, and singing, along with affirma­tions, treatment, meditation, visualization and other experiential activities—all in a spirit of love, encouragement and fun. As children participate in this program, they build self-esteem and become confident in their ability to express themselves authentically and creatively.

Youth Group

Youth Group is designed for young people ages 13–18. This age group is very focused on applying the principles of Religious Science to daily life. Recognizing that the teaching techniques that work so well with our younger children no longer cut it with the teens, a specialized program has been developed. The goal of these meetings is to help teens develop a trust of their own inner wisdom, to accept their unique value, to experience the divine love within themselves, and to share it with one another. This is accomplished by offering a safe and spiritual environment in which group sharing and experiential workshops ultimately lead to the development of personal daily practices.

Teen and Young Adult Seminars

Religious Science International sponsors Youth Seminars for teenagers. The winter seminars take place regionally. Currently, we have seminars in Northern and Southern California, Central Canada, and Southeast Florida. These are 3-day regional camps. In the summer we hold our International Seminar for one week. Religious Science Teens throughout the United States and Canada are welcome to participate. The seminars are designed to encourage spiritual growth in an environment offering freedom of expression within the framework of planned activities.

In addition, RSI sponsors a Young Adult Seminar. It is scheduled for the weekend after Easter. The target age group is 19–24, but the seminar is open to those up to 30 years old. This seminar is uniquely designed by a committee elected by their peers with support from a minister with experience in creating seminars. Having firsthand exposure to the challenges of their age group, this committee creates experiential workshops to help bring Science of Mind® into the day-to-day life of young adults.

Kosmic Kids

RSI offers a wonderful program for children 5–12 years old to enjoy the Asilomar experience with their parents. The Kosmic Kids program is designed to give the children a week of summer fun including visits to the beach, nightly campfires, songs, games and crafts. The program is further designed to use the fun activities to teach the principles of Science of Mind®. In this proactive format, the children can use SOM principles during the week, and take home what they have learned to continue making a difference in their lives.

Kosmic Kids runs daily from 9:00 am through 9:30 pm offering parents the time to enjoy the speakers and workshops while the children are involved in their program. Mealtimes are family times where parents and children have the chance to connect.

Child Care

Beginning in 2005, we have childcare available during our Celebrations of life for the wee ones that are too young for children's church. Our childcare space is completely baby-proofed, and our providers are highly experienced individuals who work under the supervision of our youth teachers.
