November 27th, will be our last Spa Night of 2007. Because of some changes in the Baltimore County renovation program, it may well be our last Spa Night at the Shelter for some time. Due to the very small apartments which house the families, there is no adequate space that will accommodate our group. However, Sandee Falls will continue to deliver donations. If you would like to make a donation to the children and/or their mothers, please consider new hats, scarves, mittens/gloves, socks, underwear and anything that looks like Christmas.
Our “Dollars for Diapers" program has been very successful. Your cash or check donations go towards the purchase of much-needed diapers for the little ones. Please keep in mind that when the families leave the Shelter, they take everything they have received including twin-size sheets, blankets, pillows, clothing, appliances, etc. These types of donations are also appropriate at this time of year. You can contact Sandee at 410.608.6454 for more information. Thanks for your generosity in support of the shelter!
Join us at the Center for Spiritual Living on the First Friday of each month for a meeting where we will discuss the 12 steps of recovery from addictions and how they relate to Science of Mind principles... Each month we’ll take one of the steps (Step 1 in January, Step 2 in February, etc.) and see how they relate to Science of Mind.
This is an informal drop in meeting and is presented on a love offering basis. Just like at 12 Step meetings, we’ll have different folks lead the meeting each month, there will be space for sharing from participants and we’ll pass the basket at the end. Please join us on December 7th as we kick off this meeting and create a group conscience that will carry this gathering forward.
During the holiday season, take a break from all the doing and create something wonderful for someone else. We'll be making squares for the Warm Up America project, which will be compiled into blankets for those in need. The simple action of making something that will bless another is a great way to get into the true spirit of giving.
Don't know how to knit? No problem - instructors will be on hand to help you learn. Yarn and needles will be provided, but you can also bring your own. Contact the Center a t 410.358.0163 for more details. Bring a dish to share for lunch.
Warm Up America! is an organization made up of volunteers who create handmade afghan blankets, clothing and accessories to help those in need. These items provide warmth and comfort to people who have lost their homes, fled abusive relations, or are being cared for in hospices, shelters, hospitals, & nursing homes. Visit the website at warmupamerica.com.
Religious Science teaches that the ongoing practice of Spiritual Mind Treatment is essential to a healthy spiritual life. In fact, Rev. Jeffrey, who is the chairperson of Practitioner Licensing for Religious Science International, encourages all new practitioners to get a prayer partner for themselves – nothing makes more of a difference than having one or more people who will stand with you in truth.
On the last Thursday of each month, immediately following our Taizé service, members and friends of our community can experience the power of a prayer group for yourself. It’s a time for sharing and Spiritual Mind Treatment — leaders of this current prayer group have been meeting together for years. If you just want to see what a prayer group can be like, or want to explore forming a group of your own, you’ll want to check this out. The Open Prayer Group meets each month — contact Deb Teramani for more information about the group.
Know that you can attend the Taizé services and the Open Prayer Group meetings individually — each meeting stands alone. Everyone’s welcome to come experience the deepening that takes place with prayer and meditation!
Dinner with the Doctor
Our “dinners with the minister” are back! Enjoy delicious meals and satisfying conversation with members of our community and our minister, Dr. Jeffrey Proctor. Sign up sheets are on the church table. If you would enjoy hosting a dinner and/or you wish to attend, please sign up or see or call Iris Sauber 410-318-8877.
Hosted by various members of our community, these informal potluck buffet dinners are a great way to get to know lots of people at RSB. Hosts tell us many they can comfortably hold in their home and are asked to supply non-alcoholic beverages. Guests bring dishes to share. This is a great way to connect with people in our community as well as Dr. Jeffrey and his partner Don; break bread together and share your favorite dish. It’s just one more way we are building and strengthening our community and having more fun together!
If you’d like to host a dinner in 2007, sign up on the Church Information Table; you can also sign up to attend a dinner here. For more information, contact Iris Sauber at 410.318.8877.
